How to Make Your New Year’s Resolutions A Reality In 2018

New Year’s resolutions are a great way to start the year and break the habit of a lifetime. However, for many people, these resolutions are too often broken, and as January slips into February, they find themselves right back at square one!  Follow these helpful tips to make a real change this year.

Small Steps: It’s important to ensure you make resolutions you’re able to keep. Making a change that is too drastic will be too much of a shock to your lifestyle, and will likely lead to you resenting the resolution you made!

Make Your Change Quantifiable: By this, we mean to put a number on the activity or lifestyle change you intend to make. For example, if your New Year's resolution is to take up yoga, try saying to yourself "I will do two 30 minute sessions of yoga a week", rather than "I will aim to do more yoga". This will make your goals more realistic, and in turn more manageable!

Make One Change at a Time: Some people decide they are going to overhaul their whole life in one go, but this often leads to failure as it devalues the individual changes. Try focusing on one change that you will stick to, and make it permanent. Then, you can wait until next New Year to make an additional change.

Talk About It! Keeping your resolution all to yourself is not a good idea. Telling your friends and family will encourage you to reach your goals, and hopefully, they will also give you words of encouragement that will spur you on! 

The New Year is a great time to make lifestyle changes. The new start helps encourage you to stick to your decisions, and with the helpful tips above, you will be able to easily kick bad habits or take up good ones in 2018.
