A Message of Gratitude from Our Founders

by: Vlada Rubarkh & Anna Ufberg

When times are challenging, it can be difficult to find space in your heart for gratitude, but it is during tough times that giving thanks is even more powerful and necessary. 2020 gave us COVID19 lockdowns and all the worry and stress that came with navigating such a serious public health crisis.

Then 2021 brought its own challenges as we re-opened our doors and witnessed the cognitive and physical decline that our clients experienced while they were away. Still, we never lost faith in our community of clients, staff, caregivers, and friends. Read on for our message of gratitude.

There’s an old proverb that reads,

“When you can’t find sunshine, be the sunshine.”

Reading our clients’ words of encouragement and support, we can’t help but feel grateful for all the wonderful people we serve at our Center. We are humbled by our clients’ ability to be positive and hopeful, even with all the challenges they have faced. We know that our clients bring sunshine into our lives every single day.

November is National Caregivers Month, a month set aside annually to honor the millions of Americans who provide essential care and medical assistance to their loved ones. We understand the sacrifice and time commitment that’s involved in being a caregiver. Many of our caregivers work full-time jobs or have altered their careers to care for their loved ones. We have witnessed our caregivers’ compassion and selfless dedication firsthand, and we are honored that we can help their loved ones grow old with dignity.

We are also endlessly grateful for our staff, who have faced their own personal and professional challenges throughout this pandemic. Despite the challenges our staff has faced, they consistently dedicate themselves to providing our clients with personalized, professional care.

Bingo, exercise and physical therapy, arts and crafts, language learning, and discussion groups are just a few activities that are possible because of our highly skilled and compassionate staff members. The notes of thanks we received show that our clients appreciate their efforts, too.

Looking to the future, we are hopeful because we have seen what we can accomplish together. We have learned that we can even be grateful for our challenges because they encourage us to reaffirm our vision of compassionate, person-centered care.

Our seniors deserve to grow old with dignity and respect, and we look forward to supporting them every step of the way. All the best to you and yours this Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Vlada & Anna
