When we reflect on 2023, the word ‘resilience’ comes to mind. It has now been 3 years since the pandemic changed our lives indelibly, and we are still witnessing its lingering effects on our seniors. Add to that the personal and professional challenges that have arisen from the wars in both Ukraine and Israel. Nonetheless, we have been resilient and unwavering in our dedication to serving seniors in our community.

We know that true progress and innovation are the product of time, hard work, and a willingness to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our extraordinary staff and community partners. Our staffs’ expertise, compassion, and commitment to our seniors has left us in awe this year, and our community partnerships have flourished as well.

Collaboration extends our reach…

and helps ensure that seniors receive the comprehensive care they deserve, and we intend to continue building new partnerships in 2024. In 2023, we have been excited to work with other healthcare workers, real estate experts, insurance brokers, and more. Through our collaborations, we have provided participants with engaging activities like Bingo along with practical help and resources. For example, our partnership with Freitag Family Agency has helped seniors choose the best insurance to fit their needs. Our work has not only served our participants but their caregivers as well.

Unpaid family caregivers account for approximately 17.7 million Americans, and that number is expected to increase as the Baby Boomers continue to age. Thus, we know that our work must include support for family caregivers, many of whom are overstressed and struggling with their own health issues. Part of our vision for Northeast Adult Day Care was to provide some relief to caregivers, and we will continue to find new ways to offer them the resources and support they need.

Our programming at the Center continues to set the bar for adult day centers thanks to our creative and committed team. We like to keep a variety of activities from arts and crafts, outdoor excursions, and gentle movement to memory games and language groups. Socialization and a variety of fun, mentally stimulating activities keeps our participants sharp well into their senior years.

We cannot know what lies ahead, but as Steve Maraboli wrote:

“Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.”

So, as we move forward into 2024, our extraordinary staff and community partners will give us strength to provide the most comprehensive care to seniors in the region. Afterall, we know that we are stronger, together.

Sending all the best to you and yours this holiday season.

Sincerely,

Vlada and Anna
